Exams are coming
Tests and exams can be a challenging part of school life for both student and parents and with the upcoming external exams, it can be an extremely stressful time for Year 11, 12 and 13.
Below are just some of the things you ca do to prepare for the exams:
Plan ahead
- Create your own revision timetable for studying at home (or in your study period for Sixth Form). Start planning before your exams and use this in line with the academy’s revision and drop down sessions.
- Make your note ‘user friendly’ and easy to understand and refer back to.
- Ask for help from your teacher, friend or parent/carer when practicing your responses, or should you get stuck.
Looking after yourself!
- Remember to eat, sleep and rest! Plan breaks between revision sessions – put yourself first as this is an important time for you.
Preparing on the day
- Make sure to have a good breakfast to fuel the brain and give you the energy to tackle whatever exams you have that day.
- Always check your timetables to see when the exams start and plan your route to school for stress free journey.
- Don’t forget the appropriate equipment for each exam, by packing your bag the night before.
- Take water into the exam (clear bottle), so you can stay refreshed and hydrated.
During the exam
- Pace yourself. Plan how much time you’ll need for each question.
- Remember the guidance from your teachers and read through the questions carefully.
- If you’re stuck on a question, go on to the next one and come back to that one later.
- Leave time to read through your answers.
Final note
- Remember, you can only do your best and that’s all you can do.
Good luck!
