Prom Class of 2017
With the exams all over with (for now), it was time for our Year 11's to get glammed up and celebrate five years of hard work.
In the words of the students from the night a "shout out" must go to Mr Sherwin and Mrs Speer (and other staff that helped create the night) for creating a glamourous throwback feel, not too dissimilar to the style of the Great Gatsby, with black and gold decor all around.
Students got the red carpet treatment, followed by balloon archways, a beverage bar, a candy bar and of course, the photo shoot area (for those wanting to capture just how amazing they looked). A more traditional checkered dance floor took center stage at the front of the hall and this would soon become the 'place to be' for the evening.
Students sent in their song choices beforehand to create their personalised playlist and spent the evening dancing away, putting some of our teachers to shame with the moves they were pulling.
Let us not forget the catering for the evening. Mr Derry out did himself with a cupcake display and a selection of candy’s for those with a sweet tooth. Mr Christie and Mr Pritchard played barman for a little while, creating juice concoctions for what was a very warm evening and the piece de resistance, was our own fish and chip van (appreciated by both students and staff).
It was a great evening, but prom would not be a prom, without its Queen. Well done to Najax who was named Prom Queen by a big majority. Looking beautiful in her outfit, she was crowned in front of her peers, followed by a great applause.
The evening ended with a classic song choice, ‘time of my life’ and a video created by one of the Year 11's (thank you Lauren) that played in the background.
It was a great evening and great celebration!
