Preparing for Y8 Options

HGABR understands that an important time is coming up for Year 8 students, where they will choose their subject options to study at GCSE. On 27th February 2018 we are holding a Year 8 Options Evening for parents, carers and students, to discuss their subject options before making their selections.

What you need to know:

Below is the information document that will be handed out to students with a detailed description and breakdown, of what subjects are available.

Students will all study the core subjects English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Science (either double or triple award) and core PE (not a GCSE). Students will then get to select three additional subjects to study along side these.

Before making any final decisions, each student will meet with their Faculty Director to discuss their choices and once finalised, parents, carers and students will receive written confirmation on what subjects they will be studying.

Please be aware that where possible the academy will endeavour to give all students their preferred choice, but a consultation process will determine final decisions

Key dates:

Tuesday 27th February: Year 8 Options Information Evening

Friday 9th March: Option forms to be completed and handed in. Meetings will be arranged with Faculty Directors.

Week commencing 26th March: Confirmed options to be sent to parents.

Please find below the Subject Options  Booklet for 2018.
