Rosetta Stone launches at Harris Girls' Academy Bromley
Alongside this online programme, we are also opening a Languages Lab in the Academy, with headphones and microphones for each student. This will allow pupils to experience the Rosetta Stone programme at their own pace and ability; taking ownership of their learning.
Our investment in the Rosetta Stone programme will develop students’ cultural and linguistic understanding; enhancing their language skills and accelerating their progress and confidence to communicate in another language. It is an interactive programme and students will be immersed in the language.
The resource will be incorporated into lesson time at the Academy but can also be accessed from home for homework, on anything from a smart phone to a PC. For those without internet access at home, computers in the Languages Lab will be available for students to use.
Emma, a Year 11 Russian student, has been using Rosetta Stone to support her classwork and prepare for her upcoming exams, said, “It’s really useful as it helps with vocabulary and pronunciation. I use it on my phone and it’s really easy to access the app. It has really helped with my pronunciation as it breaks down the words. I would really recommend it.”
Miss Lloyd, Coordinator of Languages, confirmed, “Colleges, universities, and employers will be looking for skills that set students apart, and the grasp of a foreign language is one of them. This programme is a really valuable resource and easy for students to access on their phones and computers. The interactive experience is incredibly powerful for pupils to engage with another language.”
Miss Longley-Cook, Teacher of French and Latin added, “Rosetta Stone really brings the languages to life and is very engaging for the students. We are really excited to start using this technology with all classes.”
