Happy Birthday Jocelyn Bell Burnell! As a postgraduate student the astrophysicist discovered the first radio pulsars in 1967 using a telescope she helped build. She noticed a signal that pulsed once every second - ‘Little Green Man 1’ - which was later determined to be a pulsar. https://t.co/vqfc5ULBrx

"Thank you to you and your staff, after receiving my daughter’s GCSE results.   She passed all of her exams, with flying colours.  Not only did this mean she could select the ‘A’ levels she wished to study but also gave her a great confidence boost and proved that the hard work really had paid off."

But I also wanted to thank you for the care she received whilst at the school.  Not only did she make some amazing friends, with great aspirations, but she also made some fantastic bonds with the teachers. They encouraged and nurtured her to push herself and become a better student...

...I have a younger daughter currently studying in the school and I hope her school journey offers her all the advantages it did for my eldest daughter."

- Ms Carpenter, Parent of a 2017 Year 11 graduate

A lot of research has been done to show that after school leadership and quality of teaching, parental involvement and engagement is the next biggest factor influencing a child’s educational success. Parental involvement is a key lever in school improvement. The Parents Forum Group at Harris Girls' Academy Bromley is a way of giving parents a voice within the academy and a means of opening up dialogue and feedback on what the academy is doing, why, and giving parents the opportunity to contribute to policy making on issues which affect them. It is also about creating a positive culture within the academy by strengthening feelings of ownership and commitment within the local community.

The HGABR Parent Forum Group is open to any parent that would like to contribute positively to the life of the Academy. The council meets each half term to discuss a range of issues in order to offer its opinions. Although not a decision making body, members of the council have the opportunity to influence decisions through open dialogue with staff.

Should you wish to join the Parent Forum Group, please send an email to the Parent Forum Group

Please note that future meeting dates are available from the Academy's Calendar. Click here for more information.
