The Final Day!

After yesterdays dancing activities, student woke for their final morning of snow filled #HGABRSkiSports2018 runs!

No clouds were in site as all students took to the slopes. All can proudly say that they have now completed the second hardest run at Crans Montana, Switzerland resort!

It was an amazing adventure for our students and we would like to thank the staff that went, with special thanks to Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich and Harris Invictus, who joined us on this fantastic journey!

Day 5:

It’s the last full day on the slopes but students can’t wait to get back out there!

Students split up to take on challenges all over the mountain with all students having now graduated beyond the magic carpet and nursery slopes – an amazing achievement for all and testament to the great instructors.

See below pictures of those daring the forest run and those reaching the highest peaks for the full journey, all the way down!

To celebrate that last evening, students had a disco and with some being awarded some prizes and titles (see #HBAED report here) - complete with a dance off!

Check out all the amazing pictures and videos within our galleries.

Day 4:

The normal yet no less beautiful start to the day with a lovely breakfast before heading up the mountain for 10.10am.

Conditions were once again breathtaking as students continued to develop – making it harder for our staff to keep up with them!

Day 3:

Even the weather played ball today as the predicted rain fall never materialised and students were once again met with sunshine and great skiing conditions.

Students continue to show great progress with some of the advance skiers going off-piste (showing off some real skills as they navigate on unmarked and unpatrolled areas) and our beginners set to move onto the intermediate level tomorrow.

Some of our boarders decided to take the scenic route back to the coach, opting for boarding the length of the run, instead of using the gondolas.

For the evenings entertainment, students could pick from two options; a relaxing movie night complete with a bar / cinema, fizzy drinks and popcorn, or, an active evening of sports in the local sports centre compiling of badminton, tennis or table football to name but a few.

Day 2:

Rising once again to fantastic conditions, students’ headed back to the slopes!

The beginners got to test their new skills around an inflatable course and have now graduated to steeper learning slopes, making great progress and gaining confidence with every turn, while the advanced skiers spent the day up the glacier completing a series of black runs and grinning from ear to ear.

The evening’s entertainment was a dip in the thermal spa and baths, as both students and staff took full advantage of these amazing facilities, relaxing to a back drop of snowy mountains.

Day 1:

After a long journey and a nights rest, students (and staff), had an early start to get their skis and boards fitted.

Students could choose boarding or skiing and were then placed in ability groups. The beginners spent the morning on what is referred to as the ‘magic carpet’, while they came to grips with the new skills they were being taught, whereas the advance skiers and boarders headed off to the nursery slope before heading to the top!

By the evening, students were a little bruised but enthusiastic, as the beginners graduated to the next slopes while the more advanced groups continued onwards and upwards to new heights, 2257 above sea level to be exact.

The day ended with a torch lit walk around the local (very much frozen) lake – a great end to an exciting yet demanding day.

On Friday 30 March staff and students are travelling to Crans Montana in Switzerland for the annual snow sports trip.

Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich and Harris Invictus will be working with HGABR to add pictures and reports to this page and their page (click here for HBAED), every day.
