It’s always a good idea to get a taste of uni or college before you accept an offer from one. And the best way to do this is by attending an open day! Not sure how to find them, or why you should attend? This blog has it covered… 🎒

Hopefully everyone has caught up on some much needed sleep after an amazing week in Switzerland with a brilliant group of students. Enjoy the rest of your break.

Bus 2- yr 12s should be arriving back at school around 11.30am.

Bus 1, yr 7-11 are just leaving the services at the Eurotunnel and should be arriving back at school between 10am and 10.30am. Bus 2 are on a rest stop after the Eurotunnel. Will update on arrival time when they leave.

Packing up now, then dinner before our long drive home. Going for lots of sleep en route.

Day 6 of skiing done. Everyone did amazing on what was a very tiring week!

It's disco night! Last full night here, cases are sort of packed and rooms are nearly tidy. Too much fun being had to worry for now!

Giving some jumps a go!

Getting set up for day 5 on the slopes.

More snaps. Will try to catch all groups this afternoon, need to keep up with them first!

Some brilliant skiing this morning on day 4. That spa must have helped the tired legs.

The Student Commision is recruiting!

HGABR's Student Commission is starting again this term!

Tutor groups are encouraged to discuss who they think match the criteria and can be their voice in working with the academy to improve teaching and learning, as well as discussing other areas of the academy.

The intention and focus of this year will be to focus more on learning strategies to support independence and autonomy in student learning.

What does a Student Commissioner look like?

  • Are you a critical thinker?
  • Do you want to improve the teaching and learning further in the School?
  • Are you committed to attending weekly meetings on a Monday after School?
  • Are you mature and reflective?

Tutor groups will be asked to put forward one name and a letter of application to Mrs Collect, for Monday 12th November 2018, when the first briefing takes place at 3pm.

Letters of application should contain:

  • Students Name
  • Tutor group
  • Why the candidate wants to be a part of the School commission?
  • What the candidate thinks they can bring to the focus of teaching and learning at HGABR?
  • Which Characteristics does the candidate think make them particularly suitable?

Good luck to those applying!
