Mathematics

We believe that all students have the right to an excellent mathematics education, regardless of their background.

We want to give students the opportunity to explore and learn mathematics in a way that promotes curiosity, resilience and problem solving, and increases their chances of studying it further.

The mathematics curriculum at Harris Girls’ Academy Bromley encourages the students to gain deep knowledge in the main branches of mathematics, namely: number, ratio, shape, data and algebra.

We aim to develop our students into resilient and reflective learners by offering a balance of support and challenge. By supporting students to reflect on their work and be resilient when faced with difficult problems, we hope to develop them as independent learners.

We want students to be prepared for life after education. We want to develop students use of technology in mathematics that will aid them with future careers, in an increasingly remote world. We know that maths is essential for entering a range of different professions, not only as a respected qualification but for helping students to think critically, analytically and logically, and these are traits that we strive to help students develop.

Curriculum plan - further details of the curriculum can be found in the curriculum plan below.
