Harris Girls Academy Bromley participate in the Parade for Remembrance Sunday
On Sunday 9th November, students from Harris Girls' Academy Bromley proudly took part in a moving community event to mark the centenary of the armistice that ended the First World War. In a heartfelt show of respect, our students joined the local remembrance parade and laid a commemorative wreath on behalf of the academy.
The procession began at St. George’s Church and made its way solemnly down the High Street towards the cenotaph. The atmosphere was one of unity and reflection, as students, staff, and members of the community came together to honour those who served and sacrificed.
Upon reaching the cenotaph, the ceremony commenced with prayers, poems, and hymns, creating a powerful tribute to the fallen. As the Last Post rang out across the town, a hush fell over the crowd for the traditional two minutes of silence—a moment marked by reverence and remembrance.
HGABR staff and students, joined others in the symbolic act of respect, of the laying of a wreath. The ceremony concluded with the singing of the national anthem, reinforcing a shared sense of pride and unity.
We are incredibly proud of our students and staff for their participation and representation of the academy on this significant occasion.
