Harris Girls' Academy Bromley wins national GCSE award

SSAT, the Schools, Students and Teachers Network, recently undertook an in-depth analysis of official Department for Education data on all state-funded schools in England and identified Harris Girls' Academy Bromley’s success.

The Academy has qualified for an SSAT Educational Outcomes Award for being in the top 10% nationally for progress made by students between their Year 6 SATS results at primary school and their GCSE results at age 16.

It has been invited to receive its award at a celebration in London on 12 May.

David Astin, Principal of Harris Girls' Academy Bromley, said:

“We are delighted that the excellent progress our students make during their time with us has been recognised. No matter what their starting point when they arrive here we believe that, with hard work and dedication, each and every girl at this school should achieve.”

Sue Williamson, Chief Executive of SSAT said:

“Harris Girls' Academy Bromley should be congratulated for their exceptional achievement. They have proved themselves to be leading the field in improving GCSE outcomes for their students. There is so much good practice that this school could share.

“These results are testament to the commitment and hard work of the students, teachers and leadership team at Harris Girls' Academy Bromley, and show what can be achieved when skilled teachers have high expectations and ambition for every young person.”
