Celebrating CORE Day at HGABR
Today we celebrate CORE Day – a special occasion dedicated to living our values: Commitment, Optimism, Resilience, and Empathy. These principles guide everything we do and help to shape a positive, thriving school community.
Each academic year, students participate in two Core Days, which include a mix of onsite and offsite activities designed to enrich learning and personal development.
Science Museum Adventure
Year 7 students will visit the Science Museum. They will take part in an engaging Space workshop, have the chance to speak with a scientists working in a lab, and explore the museum galleries. This experience complements their Key Stage 3 curriculum and sparks curiosity about the wonders of science.
Positively You Workshops
Year 8 students will engage in interactive workshops delivered by Positively You. These sessions focus on maintaining a healthy balance of fun, work, and relaxation, while developing a growth mindset and building resilience.

Natural History Museum
Year 9 will visit the Natural History Museum, linking their trip to the study of Frankenstein. This visit will inspire ideas for a creative writing workshop, which will follow during their English lessons.
Maritime Museum & Ice Skating
Year 10 students will enjoy a cultural experience at the Maritime Museum, followed by an exciting opportunity to ice skate on the picturesque Queen’s House Ice Rink in Greenwich.
Flip Out & Christmas Market
Year 11 students will head to Flip Out in Croydon, an indoor adventure park offering a variety of fun activities. Later, they will visit The Winter Gardens Christmas Market at Beckenham Place Park for a festive experience to round off the day.
CORE Day is more than just an event – it’s a celebration of the values that define us and help our students grow into confident, resilient, and empathetic individuals.
